We’re not at all surprised since the entire month seems to be filled with cookouts, carnivals, sporting events and fairs (all of which hot dogs are typically consumed). In celebration, we thought it’d be super fun to throw a backyard bash featuring this delicious grill staple! But, before we get into that, we wanted to do a little digging on hot dogs…
Summer is officially here and our Cool Food Panelists have been creating new and exciting recipes to keep you cool this summer. June Dairy Month is halfway over and summer is finally here! In the midst of all the heat, our Cool Food Panelists have been cooking up some exciting foods to celebrate Dairy Month. These delicious, flavorful and dairy-inspired recipes are fit for summer and a whole lot of family fun!
Oh cheese—it’s National Cheese Day! We can’t find any better way to kick off June Dairy Month than with cheese. Cheese is the most popular dairy product of them all and in fact is one of the most consumed foods worldwide. We can’t say we’re surprised 😉
As May comes to a close, we just aren’t ready to let go of all the celebrations that occurred this month. We celebrated both National Egg Month and National BBQ Month. We also highlighted important days from Cinco de Mayo to Mother’s Day to graduations to parties and picnics to kick off summer and all the in-betweens. We want to have one more celebration with you by sharing some of the most delicious dishes our Cool Food Panelists have prepared.
With sunny skies on the forecast and warm weather, now is the time for all things spring! Graduations are happening and accompanying parties are being planned. Plus, spring is the perfect time for bridal and baby showers and getting together with friends and family! Gather everyone together and get creative by hosting an easy “bar” – where guests choose from toppings to make their perfect meal.
Today is yet another awesome food holiday to celebrate—it’s National Shrimp Day! Did you know that Americans eat more shrimp than any other seafood? Of the 15.5 pounds of fish and shellfish eaten by the average American each year, shrimp accounts for 4 pounds, topping the entire list.
We’ve all heard of Cinco de Mayo (“the fifth of May”) as a fun celebration with lots of Mexican food, but what is the history behind the holiday event? A common misconception is that Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico’s independence, but it is actually centered around celebrating Mexico’s victory in the battle at Puebla, which occurred during the Franco-Mexican War on May 5, 1862. It was unsure that Mexico could win the battle, since they were heavily outnumbered by French military forces. Ultimately the win became a significant source of pride for Mexico.
Did you know that May marks National BBQ Month? While there’s no denying our love for hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and other grill favorites, we can’t ignore our obsession over side dishes fit for outdoor dining. And we know that we’re not alone! Between the array of pasta and potato salads, deviled eggs and veggie assortments, we simply just cannot get enough.
