No matter how you slice it, people around the world have a passion for cheesecake! Originating on the Greek island of Samos, simple ingredients like flour, wheat, honey and cheese, combined to make a cheesecake that was even served as a wedding cake. The Greeks considered cheesecake to be a good source of energy, and there is evidence that it was served to athletes during the first Olympic games in 776 B.C. With such a glowing endorsement, it’s no wonder we’re celebrating National Cheesecake Day!

It’s National Vanilla Ice Cream Day! While there are countless ice cream flavors out there, vanilla ice cream continues to be the most popular. Surprisingly enough, however; it was not the first ice cream flavor. It wasn’t until the discovery of the Americas that chocolate and vanilla crept onto the ice cream scene. Being able to indulge in basic ice cream flavors like vanilla and chocolate used to be a luxury reserved for high society.
